Drilling out endpin collar to 10mm

Drilling out the endpin collar

I lost my endpin and need to replace it
I bought a 10mm aluminum rod but it is too big
I'll go pick up a 9mm aluminum rod today but was thinking the 10mm would be a little bit stiffer

Are there any problems drilling out a steel collar to 10 or 12mm?
It will make it lighter so it should resonate slightly better , but probably only noticeable if I went to 12mm

Thanks
