endpin not coming out smoothly

Usually my endpin slides very smoothly when I adjust the height of my bass. But recently, there seems to be a fair amount of resistance that fights me as I pull it out. It doesn't get stuck, but it takes a bit more effort to move the endpin. What can I do?

zombbg4 - lol, I know. I couldn't figure out how to otherwise phrase my question.

Paul - are you suggesting I rub graphite on the endpin, or where more specifically?

No rub it on yer.....
Sorry, yeah, squrit a bit on the metal rod, then move it in and out ( oh baby, I gotta go to the BATHROOM ) so that the grahite is distributed evenly along the rod.
This may be happening due to moisture in the air, making the wood part of the pin swell up, putting too much pressure on the rod.

in all honesty, it does sound like your endpin might be bent. take it out and roll it plat on the ground.
