Extremely happy with the Eggpin

I bought an Eggpin from Dr. Rod on this forum--great guy to deal with--who said it simply didn't work for him. But it REALLY works for me. I love the thing. I'd had a bent endpin in there for a couple months, and I liked that, but the eggpin is much better--the combination of adjustments lets me get the bass just perfectly set up for me, and the big advantage is that the upper register just lays perfectly--thumb position is suddenly easy, the bass is easier to support--I don't know why this thing works, but it sure works. it sounds ridiculous, but my playing is much better with the eggpin--better intonation, and much better arco.

Downside is taking the thing off--mine is a "universal" mount and you need to loosen two allen-head machine screws each time you need to pack up the bass. I suppose I could leave it on there, but it's awkward and looks like it could do a lot of damage.

But otherwise I'll add my name to the list of eggpin fans. Maybe someday i'll get one of those laborie endpins, for convenience, but right now the eggpin is the shizzle

What size is your normal straight endpin? I believe you can purchase an adapter that allows the universal joint to become a male fitting, which then slides into a 8mm or 10mm hole. No allen wrench needed.

Contact Aaron at Robertson's... they have all the accessories for Eggpin. I'm sure someone else does, too, but I don't know who off the top of my head...

Well, the eggpin just fell off--and took the brass collar of the endpin with it.

So now what--new endpin? eggpin adaptor?
