finger board relief question

I recently bought a Silver Creek, Romanian, upright and the relief of the fingerboard seems very extreme; at least compared to my Cheap Chinese Unit. Is there any rule of thumb as to what the string height should be on the E at the A position? I know this is a personal preference kind of deal but I would like to know how others have their bass set up.
I have lowered the adjustable bridge as low as I can without buzzing and slotted the nut properly. Thanks
