Fire brands

What are people using these days for name brands? Some times people stamp their name under the heart of a bridge when they are done. I was wondering if a fire brand is prefered or and ink stamp.
I could imagine the letters on a fire brand ashing together, but with the ink stamps... does the ink bleed into the wood?

I use a fire brand on my talipieces, except for the ebonies as they don't like it! I think Wake said to sign the bottom of the neck block with an ink pen to thwart fakery as the ink does penetrate the wood. Ink doesn't work for me as a lot of pieces are either figured or in the dark color range so the ink just don't show up.
