Funny Overtones

Used my DB for the 1st time the other night on a gig (Old time country & bluegrass) and to my shock about 2 minutes before we were to start I plugged my preamp into my amp and tried the bass and I had the most godawfull double overtone on my D string at the G sound like it was out of tune with itself and choked out. Plus the G sound a little choked out. I'm using weedwackers so the tension is lower than the steels that came on it. The previous owner had it set up. Any ideas such as lowend rumble (feedback?), Soundpost or string height? I did have the preamp mounted to the tailpiece which I didn't have before at practice? Also another bassist had his Engelhardt there as well and his sounded awesome through my rig. Same Bass, Same rig. Only difference was he didn't have his preamp mounted and he added a Sansamp to the mix. Thanks in advance for any help as this is all new to me but I'm loving it!

Was the gig outdoors, by chance? What I'm wondering is if the climate change, coupled with a low-tension string, caused the string height there to be too low....buzzing out on the fingerboard a little. Did the same note have the issue elsewhere on the board? If so, I think you're finding the good old wolf tone that many uprights have. If it's isolated to that one note on that one string, I'd look at setup.
