g string bridge groove

The G string groove on my bass is a little low than the rest of the strings. What can I do to raise it a little bit.
I've seen basses that has a cylindrical plastic, almost like a straw at the end of the string (bridge). How can I get this?

If your just raising it a hair...put some baking soda in the groove (string out, of course!) and add a drop of super glue. Repeat until it is filled...and then re-file with a nice round mouse-tail file. Cheap, easy, and lasting.

when do you decide it's time to raise the G string? My new set is completely below the level of the bridge. Should I try this technique?
