Is gelatin as good as hide glue longterm?

So a number of weeks ago I reglued a slight open section on the top of my bass which was buzzing. AFAIK gelatin is safe and removable as a temporary measure, but the seam has been fine since. Is there any reason to worry about getting it redone with hide glue? If its simply weaker than hide glue and the seam comes apart I can redo the seam fairly easily.

gelatin/hide glue

I'm pretty sure gelatin is hide glue, just not graded for gel strength. Someone told me that it was actually bone glue, though, so I guess I don't know.

You certainly haven't hurt anything, though.

a top should be glued with weak glue anyway. It'll be fine.
