Getting a New Bridge

My bridge is pretty warped so I am going to get a new bridge in the near future. The one I have now came with the bass I bought. It's a Despiau (is that how you spell it) and it seems like it was carved to thin. I know that the person who makes the adjustments to the bridge by sanding it etc. probably has more to do with it being good or bad, but could you guys recommend any good bridge makers? I want something that will last for ages even with the extremes of Boston climate. Is it typical to buy the bridge from the luthier you are having set up the bass or do some guys buy a bridge elsewhere and then take it to their luthier of choice? Thanks.
Pat

Despiau has different grades of bridges. I use their "two trees" grade and like the wood just fine.

Even perfectly cut bridges will warp if the bridge is allowed to tilt forward; you need to check the bridge once a week or so to make sure that it is sitting properly.

The thin or thickness can make a difference to how your bass will sound, so talk about that with your repairman.

I prefer to supply the bridge blank when I cut a bridge for a bass, just to keep the lines of responsibility clear. If my bridge warps in less than a year and you've made sure it is sitting right, I'll replace it for you.
If you bring me a cheap bridge blank, there's no way I can guarantee it.
