gloss finish question

I have a stupid question about the high gloss finish on my Czech plywood bass.

Is there something I can do to dull out the finish on the body without completely ruining it? I'm inclined to try really fine steel wool (don't shoot me).

If I dull out the finish, will that affect its resale value. Is there a way to shine it back up if I decide to sell it?

That's actually three questions, but they're kind of related.
