Graphite fingerboard

I'm sorry if this post is redundant, but I am new and saw nothing in detail about this in the archives.

I am thinking about having a graphite fingerboard put on my URB, and I was wondering about anyone's experience with such a thing. Can the action really be improved a lot? What is the feel and sound like? How do they wear in the long run? Any damage or other problems? I do a lot of slap, so how does that work/sound on a grapgite FB?

Thanks for your input.

Chris

I bought one, inspected it and sent it back. Too flexible, excessive camber, too difficult to work the material. I'll stick with ebony.

I've played graphite on slab basses, EUBs and cellos, and loved them all. I don't know if it might be too flexy for a DB application, but in theory the stuff is great. It looks and feels better than the best ebony I've seen, and it should last forever and never need planing...

Thanks Arnold, that's been in the back of my mind for a while, nice to get it out of there.
