Heavily Harmonic and metalic Sound...Help!!

HI.
I am experiencing alot of difficulty with my Instrument:
Its a fairly good instument - not plywood - (about 5K aus) and I use an arry mixed hair bow.

The main issue is I am not able to make any real progress due to the incredibly "harmonic and harsh" overtones.I was using Obligato (i thought it may be that) - but have just tried some Helicore orchestral...no difference...at all.

My tutor is SSO, and he couldn't play piannisimo - without a TON of rosin. And though new - I know my technique isn't the main culprit.

I know this is vague, but I'm pretty upset that I may have spent all my money on something that doesn't play. I have an adjustable bridge and have had the bass set up by a reputable Luthier.

Any Ideas / known causes of such harsh sound?
Thanks in advance.
Will

Thanks Guys
obligatos were on for about 6 months.
I use Nyman - or pops (I don't like that stuff though). The other brands I have never seen over here.
Hmm - I have a 45dgree endpin - the Bow was indeed low cost at 895 bucks australian - But truly I have no interest if I can't get something working for around 7K (so far) all in - it's pretty disheartening. I will make these suggestions to my luthier - hopefully he will do it there is only really one in sydney.

Anyone want to buy a bass and bow? I ran out of money.
Will.
