Help finding broken basses

I've been trying for about a month to find a broken bass to restore, but living in MT I'm not having much luck. I'm a working bassist/hobbyist, and I need a second bass + something to satisfy my inner luthier.

You need a broken Double Bass, or a broken Electric Bass?

Go around pawn shops, Kijiji, Craigslist, eBay..

You could get a cheap Chinese made bass off of eBay and fix that up, haha.

You might send a message through the local school system...their basses get abused pretty badly. I've done some major repairs that way-- if you bought a really bad one from them for cheap, and brouht it back in great condition (to show, not give) it might generate later requests to satisfy your inner luthier in a way that profits them and you.

Double bass, hybrid or fully carved.

I've never used Kijiji or Craigslist - but I will try it - thanks.

I've done pawn shops, but found nothing worthwhile. I prowl ebay often.

I guess I could buy one of those $500 chinese basses and just wait for it to self-destruct while it acclimates in my shop :}
