Do they seem stuck? If not, just turn them in the opposite direction.

If you're trying to raise the adjusters with the bridge under full string tension, it's gonna be a gnarly experience. Loosen up, don't let the soundpost fall...

Yeah, loosen up a bit (lay bass on back and have someone put hand pressure on sound post area so post doesn't fall...if it does, just re-set.) You may need to use channel lock pliers to knock them loose. Put a piece of leather in the plier jaws to avoid scratching.

If the adjusters are bound-up you might also make sure that you have the sides of the bridge adjusted evenly. If the not the adjusters will want to bind, but more importantly you can crack the legs of the bridge apart!

I'm not sure that using channel lock pliers a good idea unless you know for sure that they are the kind that were made in one piece. The old style two piece aluminum adjusters (where the wheel was just screwed on and glued to the shaft) have been known to break apart if you use too much pressure on them when they are struck.

Sorry, forgot to mention the detensioning of the strings. I usually just wrap a small rag around the wheel and go for it with my hands. Take your time, it'll take some force. I never tried channel locks.
