help: string physics dummies

What is the equation to find the string length for a specific pitch?
or (the pitch of any string length)

There is more to pitch than just string length. It's a combination of string length, tension, string weight, etc. My King Moretone, with a 43.5" mensure played the same E, A, D, G as my Sunrise, with a 41" mensure.

Ah, not quite... those are the big 3, but then there's more that make a small difference. Not that they matter for any practical purpose with upright, but a BGs bridge is never in the spot you'd calculate if it is intonated properly.

Yes. Thanks for noting that. My spreadsheet is based solely on the formula involving the twelfth root of two, intended to help decide how much the finger spread would change upon reducing the string length.
