Help With Violin Provenance

My brother-in-law owns a violin that he wants to identify. It is likely of pre-1917 German origin. This site is so full of information on so many bass-related topics that I figure if I can find the violin equivalent for my brother-in-law then he would stand a good chance of getting the information he seeks. Does anyone here know of the violin equivalent to TalkBass? Thanks.

Thank you, Darren. It looks like a fascinating site. I have passed the link on to my brother-in-law.
