How to remove excess glue after applying to a small crack?

Hello,

Today i applied this glue :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LUTHIER-HI...item4ac1c2a491

On a small crack on my double bass (it wasn't developing but i didn't want to take the risk)

I am not a luthier and this is the first time i was doing it. I followed all the instructions given to me by my luthier (which is overseas) and where i smeared the glue, in the areas around the crack the polish is not so shiny anymore and it seems that there is a thin layer of glue there. I did clean up the area with a cotton kitchen towel.

Should i apply vinegar/alcohol to the area? will it damage the finish? Wont it dissolve the glue i applied?

I think i have http://www.jimdunlop.com/product/for...olish--cleaner this somewhere (i use it on my Fender p-bass)

Is it OK to use it for the double bass?

Thank you for reading

Dip your finger in warm water and rub. Blot it dry as soon as possible.

Maybe i should remove the excess tomorrow? or ASAP?

I thought maybe it would be better to wait until the glue dries inside the crack.

I wouldn't worry about it. What I'm wondering is what's up with your tailpiece?

Thanks for the picture, GRASSHOPPER!

To the OP, you need to shorten your saddle pronto, before it causes more and bigger cracks in your top...

You can also make small cuts in the top on the ends of the saddle. An X-acto saw works well. The top expands and contracts much more than the saddle and it needs room to do that.

Could you please describe how to make cuts on the saddle?

Where exactly? How deep?

What kind of tool can i use?

Would be great if you could show me a link to some pictures and maybe draw on them or show me some movie.

Thank you

Sorry, I didn't see your query. It's not difficult if you're careful. This saw is only one possible tool. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...PUBMAc&dur=244 Really, you just need to make a cut on each side of the saddle, through the top, stopping when you get to the ribs and block. Don't cut the top much above the saddle. If you're unsure, take it to a pro.
