I'm going away for 2 months on Saturday and so my bass will be going unplayed for that time.
How should I store it while I'm away?
While I'm in town I generally just leave it leaning against the corner of the room. Should I keep it in its case, just as it is or does it not really matter?
Cheers

I guess I was wondering about humidity and weather etc. I live in Sydney and it can get pretty hot and humid in summer time. Do you reckon the case might be a good idea to try regulate the conditions as well or does it not matter that much? |

In a hardshell case. In tune. Under a bed. |

Most of us don't have a hard case because they are very expensive, and I've never seen a bed you could fit a real bass under, but hey thanks for visiting!
To the OP, why not just put your bass in it's bag and lay it on it's side if you're going out of town, just in case there is an earthquake or something. For day to day, out of the bag in a corner is fine, the air in the bag and out of it will generally be at the same humidity. |

Still, I would give the same advice for a double bass, a violin, a classic guitar, etc. Now that I think about it, I would give the same advice for a clarinet too. The best place to store an instrument is in its case. |

To respond to the OP, as long as where you're keeping it is a controlled environment (reasonably steady temp and humidity), I don't see what problems could arise in 2 months. Keep it in its bag for good measure. |
