| | | | Looking for the Bonnie Doon Luthier Hi. I heard some time ago there was an awesome bass luthier in Bonnie Doon, California. Now I've got some minor issues with my old Kay and I'd like to enlist his help. Anybody got a name or number to look him up? Thank you very much.

Good luck on the luthier! |

| | | Matt is great. He did somereal nice set up work on two of my uprights. Very meticulous. He is in Santa Cruz.
The fellow in Bonnie Doon is probably Paul Hostetter. He helped me out once, and does flawless work as well. Usually very busy. Good luck! http://www.lutherie.net/lutherie.html |

I've been doing a running poll here in the Bay Area - "Who do you take your bass too?" With rare exception, I get one of two answers: 1) I'm looking myself (usually followed by "I sure miss Michael and Hanna" ) or 2) Matt Bohn. I was in the first camp (since Michael and Hanna left) until a couple of months ago. Now I'm in the second camp. He's a nice guy. He listens. He has reasonable prices; and, his work is first rate. For what it's worth... |

Paul Hostetter is a great luthier but very busy.
Matt Bohn is also a great luthier, maybe less busy but not by much.
We here in the Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay area are quite lucky, climate not withstanding!

-J | You folks have a great climate. Inside Matt's shop the humidity is 45 - 50 % naturally. I brought a hygrometer just to check it out. Where I live down here more central we have 10%, or less, all summer and maybe high 20's in the winter except for the few days it rains. And I mean few days at that.
Anyway, Matt has worked on four of my basses and brought them to their full potential. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
