Loose fingerboard: How much time do I got?

Guys, my FB is creaking like a chair when I play. It's loose at the bottom of the neck, <1 mm at the bottom if I pull gently away from the bass. If I push the side of the FB at the bottom with my thumb, I can get it to creak audibly as it shifts <1mm to one side. It still looks strongly glued for at least 3/4 of the rest of the neck starting from the nut down. One more thing, my mind may be playing tricks on me but I don't remember a slight gap between the nut and the fingerboard at the top of my bass. I see one now.

How much time do I have? I plan on getting it reglued sometime next week but have a gig on Tuesday. My gut feeling is that it's probably okay if I don't detension it til I can get it fixed.

Opinions? Thanks.

how much time do you have? unknown. get her in asap, glueing it shouldnt take that long. if your board pops while your playing it it will take your bridge with it, and the sound of a falling bridge and tail piece under tension will make you wet yourself, on stage none the less.

Your neck can warp if the fingerboard is not glued on it properly.

All of the above; but, FWIW, I had a school bass brought to me with the FB held on only by scotch tape (the regular office variety) and they had been playing it that way.

I was horrified, but when all was said and done, it was easy to pull the neck straight and to reglue the board, and all was well.

This actually happened to me once, minus the urination part. I did shed a tear, though,...

Grrr.... it's a minor annoyance. I've taken the tension off. I will play the gig with my EUB but I really wanted to play the DB. Oh well. Thanks again.

That creaking sound is probably more of the glue popping, I'd get it in asap..
