loud G string

The G string on my Strunal plywood box is louder by far than all of the other strings. This is not a wolftone. It's every note on the whole length of the string. WAY louder.

My inclination is to mute that string only but I don't know how to go about doing that. Anyone care to share some tricks?

The two most obvious ways to do it would be:

1) Lower the G string either by adjusting the bridge adjusters, or by lowering the string height in relation to the other strings at the bridge. What are your string heights from the bottom of the string to the fingerboard in mm at the end of the board?

2) Put on a G string with less tension, or one that is darker than the others.

A soundpost adjustment may help, too.
