Even though it's a bit of drive from Philly, you owe it to yourself to get work done from Mike. People seek him out as far around as the tri-state area (at least). He's a great dude and does great work.

mike is the man. take a scenic trainride. catch some art in lancaster. catch some jazz in harrisburg. it's all good.

Golden Violins is in Chestnut Hill. Paul Stevens is in Ardmore.
Paul did nice work for me and was very fair priced. However, Mike Shank is the local authority on basses [that I am aware of] and will give your bass the attention it needs and you won't leave his shop until you are satisfied. He's a great guy!

I just had my swingmaster which was in not so good playing condition, set up by mike shank, fingerboard reshaped, sound post refitted, bridge arched, now she plays great arco and pizz . Prices very resonable, too.
