David Mansbridge in Annapolis gets a lot of work--he does bass and only bass. He's a really interesting guy, kind of a character. I think he puts too much scoop in fingerboards for my taste, but Glenn Dewey, principle bassist in the Marine band, swears by him, and he's many times better than me. Some people go to Potter's violins, or Brobst violins in Alexandria, but they don't specialize in bass. Same with Chuck Levin's --they do some setup work, but I've never gone there.

I think Rumano Solano in Baltimore does work on basses, but I have no experience with him or his basses--he makes his own basses as well as doing repairs and set up (I think)

Next time my bass needs work I'm probably going to drive to Shank strings in PA.
