Very nice, beautiful, good execution! Congrats!

I am so jealous!

Not so much for the bass- that is awesome, but because the score is Matthew 2, and Brian 0. I have two big repair jobs on the bench to finish before I can start one...

You are the Man!

Matthew, you are, pretty much, one of my new heroes.

The most admirable part is that, while you have the ability to take on and produce such a monstorous project as building a bass, you've also taken the time to document and share it with the rest of the world.

'Preciate ye.

BTW, what's the next project and when can we expect to start seeing some pictures of that?

Yeah, I gotta pile on this love heap -- that's a beautiful piece of work, Matthew, and your sharing the process with us makes it even better.

We got us a rock star luthier hanging here...

Yummy.

I'd still like to see it over at MIMF forum. Hardly any basses over there. I can't show off my own stuff (I'm only a mere player).... so I want to show off yours.

I wouldn't touch that last line with a ten foot pole.

I am very chuffed that this bass is such a hit!

And to thank you, and in response to lots of requests - but against my better judgement, for I feel I am exposing my a&^e to the world here - I've posted an audio clip on youtube:

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=SfbTuD6immc

As if you can judge a bass by the crappy youtube audio? or by my amateur playing? But at least you know the thing makes a sound. Pizz only I'm afraid. I'll need to find a volunteer to record a clip arco for me. Any takers in Sydney?

thank you - thankyoutoo - thankyoutube

Following this creation process, and then listening to the Maker playing it (that was you Matthew, wasn't it? ) results in distant trans-pacific emotional breakdown -- this is so friggin beautiful, I nearly want to cry.

Hey Matthew,
I haven't piped up 'till now but I've watched closely as you built this bass. It is a truly, truly beautiful instrument! Thanks for taking us all along for the ride. You must be very proud of how it turned out. I hope you'll allow us along again when you build another.
Regards,
-Jeff

You know my shoddy playing... wouldn't do this beautiful bass justice...;-)

I watched some of the school spectacular on ABC last night with Olivia on the bass. What a great show that was.

cheers, Ed

Mathew, I've just been lurking on your build thread so far, and have been very impressed with what I've seen, but that sound clip! Are you kidding me!? that thing sounds great! Wonderful low-end, especially for such a new bass, I can't wait to hear it bowed...
Very nice playing, too, Blue monk and Good Bye Porkpie Hat are two of my favorite tunes.

Just curious, but what strings are on there?

Congratulations on such a huge acconlishment and a job well done.

Matthew,

Bravo! Please do post an arco clip when you have time and inclination.

Thanks for all you've shared.
