Mathew- some cool innovtions around the ffs, but I wonder if running the cross grained inlays at 90 degrees might not cause some problems when the wood moves in contrary directions? maybe putting those in at a 45 to the top would be a better comprimise of strength and stability.

Anyways, just shooting from the hip here. I'm a big fan of your work, can't wait to see what you do with that huon pine ( my vote is for a gamba shape with bat wing ffs).

A small sliver of wood will never move enough to cause a problem here. And in any case, I have protected against the far greater likelihood of the corner snapping off. 90 degrees does that best. And its easier to fit, which is a consideration, and why I didn't use a classic slanted half-edging technique.
