Well I bought the bass November 2003, so 2 years ago this month. The exact age of the bass I don’t know but I was told somewhere in the 90`ths. It’s Romanian . Don`t know who build it, though I think My Luthier (Jan Knooren, Schimmert, The Netherlands) knows, must ask him when I see him again.
And as far as how much.. What do you give.. ? (It’s not for sale though) |

Well, OK......

Don’t get me wrong.. I have a Luthier and I do value his opinion.. Greatly. That doesn’t need to say that I don’t value other peoples opinions. It wouldn’t be the first time that I hear someone disagree with a Luthier on this Forum. And secondly yes I have one Luthier.. that’s 1 and each Luthier has it’s own idea’s and opinions, what’s wrong with asking other peoples opinion’s ?
It’s not that I would "rather" here your opinion, I would like to "also" here your opinion. And isn’t the internet a great medium where that is possible.
As for the pictures part... you are right, They are only pictures and they don’t say everything. But that is why I have a Luthier... right.
And for the people I don’t know part, That’s really an advantage, You guys have no reason to not tell me something and as such can be completely honest and objective.
You see I have thought about this before I posted the pics, and all I did was ask advice. |

I was just browsing the pics and the G string seems to me cut a bit deeper than others, but .... what is the reason NOT to cut too deep? Does this make the sound a bit dull, muted or how to describe that best?
I think my Cremona has this and that's why I am asking, still I like the sound a bit muted and not too clear and brite.
Thanks,

But I do feel strongly that if you ever get a new bridge for your instrument, have it done by someone who will really put a lot of care into fitting everything perfectly. Arnold Schnitzer's bridges, for example, are without flaw.

Sorry to partially sort of hijack.

My teacher does though, and he says that they take a little work but he loves the sound.
