Need Kluson gear wheel on tuner

Hello, I have an old Engelhardt bass that is missing a gear wheel on one of the tuners. Called Engelhardt to find that Kluson made the tuners and is out of business. The gear wheel is 7/8 inch wide, 20 gear teeth and made of brass. Any help in finding one would be greatly appericated. The screw and washer are also missing. Thanks, Slowbrew

You might try Jerry Fretwell at: http://www.fretwellbass.com/?source=bbp . He sells a lot of Kays and Englehardts. Good Luck .

I know the Gotoh company makes a copy of the vintage Klusons for Fender basses. You might check them out to see if they are making other reproductions too.

You didn't fill out your profile, so we don't have any idea where you are located. If you are located in or near any large city that has orchestra programs in the secondary schools, I would find out who does string repair work for the school district. There is a good possibility that the (usually violin) shop or shops that does the work will have some old Kay or Englehardt gears or plates that were removed for replacement. Most shops keep a "junk" drawer with things like that in it. I thought I had some in mine, but I must have used them or given them away already. Anyway, all it will cost you to find out is a telephone call or two.

Thanks to Bass Forum and Bob Knebal I found a gear wheel at Fretwell Bass. Apparently they are rare as "hen's teeth". I am grateful. Blaine Eldridge
