New bridge fitted - 2009 prices?

I'm thinking about getting a new adjustable bridge made for my American Standard upright.

What are some typical prices (outside of New York or Chicago)?

I'd heard $350 from one shop...

I just got off the phone with Lemur Music here in Calif, a Despau bridge $60 plus 4hrs labor x $60/hr = $300

Lisa at Los Angeles Bassworks said "about $300".

Hmm, $350 for something that'll last at least 10 years and probably longer. That's a good deal. Get the best bridge you can.

Do yourself a favor and get an adjustable bridge while you're at it.

Not sure what his price is for a new bridge but since you're in Iowa City you should give Chris Threlkeld a call. I'm sure he'll give you a competitive price and do incredible work.
