No more gloss!

Hey all,

Just wanted to express my excitement here... I know there's been lots of posts regarding dulling the gloss on a shiny bass, and I also had been tempted to get rid of this on my bass. I thought that maybe it would be too complicated, too risky etc. Well, this is not the case. I simply went to our local DIY store, got myself some sanding sponge and took the plunge. With VERY little efford, I've gotten the exact results I had hoped for. The amount of varnish that gets sanded off, is extremely little... almost nothing, but my bass has gone from shiny to matt... and it looks GREAT!!

Anyone who wants to do this, go for it!

Waltjie

I´d also like to see some pics... I´ve heard about a white residue appearing after sanding any kind of lacquer…

Nice! I've been wanting to do this to my Shen but was hesitant because I hadn't seen any pics. What exactly did you use to take off the gloss? About how long did it take? Anyone tried this on a darker finish?
