Open G buzz

Happy Thanksgiving all,

I have a buzz from my open G string and I can't place where it's coming from. I think it may be in the peg box, but I can't say. Anywhere I listen along the length of the string has the buzz. Any thoughts on what it could be?

I have Spiro Mittles on with a medium string height.

Oh boy! I wish you an easy fix. Do a search here for "buzz rattle". You'll find a slew of threads on the topic. They can be tough to pin down. The best I can offer is that if it sounds like it's coming from the peg box, then play the note while a helper holds each tuning key, places his/her hand on each string in the peg box, etc. Do you get the buzz when you play the same G on the D string? If not, that would suggest that the problem is related to the G string, per se, and not simply the result of exciting a resonance. Good luck.

It's just the open G and the G harmonic. I was thinking it might be the string.

Update:

I just switched out the Spiro G for a Dominant G I had and the buzz is gone. If it comes back I'll let you know.

How's the hand Dr.?

I had that problem with a Spiro Mittel G once. Turned out the string had a small kink in it that was almost imperceptible. Changed the string and the problem went away.
