pegbox string length

I have read about Pecanic and Kolstien adjustable tailpieces but I have not read any ideas about the string length at the pegbox. I could attatch my E string to the "longest" tuner or what is currently my D string tuner. The A string stays attatched in the same location as usual. The D string could be attatched at the G location and the G would be attatched at the E tuner. I would then accomplish "big string long at the pegbox with shorter lengths for the smaller strings." The small string would have the shortest length at the pegbox.

Any comments? Has anyone tried this approach?

Arnold does this on his Standards as well.

Any type of change will affect the feel to some degree but balancing all this out including the right string, sound post location, Bass bar placement, etc.. is more of the whole picture type thing.
