Please Help!

Alright I don't even know what words I would put in to search for this but here it goes. I have a copy of a Stradivarious and the nut is buzzing (it is a little worn down) also the strings never go "straight" whenever I tune it from placing the bridge where it is supposed to be it jumps back to a place where the G string is close to the edge of the fingerboard and the E string is really far away. Im new to this bass and dunno what the problem could be. I dont have a digital camera to post pics... sry

Sounds like the alignment of the neck could be off?

Check that the tailgut is running straight and centered over the saddle. I've seen these get kicked over to the side sometimes during restringing.

^^^ What he said. Just about drove me out of my gourd once; I thought the neck was all crooked and couldn't figure out how it happened.
