Polish turns bass into smudgy turd - How do I get it off?

Help! I used some kolsteins (incorrectly applied by me im guessing) and now my bass looks awful. I followed the directions and at first the bass looked great, I put in the case take it out to a rehersal, unpack it and boom! Awful greasy smudges everywhere. I can't wipe them off with a cloth. How can I get this stuff off?

Still no ideas? I can't get this stuff off and its turning into a dull film on the bass. I don't want this to be a permanent change on my
bass.

Start small. Take a soft cotton rag and spray a little water on it. Now rub with the grain; hard at first, then gently. Report back here.

Warning: use VERY gentle pressure on the f-hole wings!

H20 and elbow... if that won't cut it, Mohawk brand Wax-Wash. good for grime, polish build up,gumminess etc. I use it everyday won't cloud finish and evaporates in a few moments.
good luck..

Some water, elbow grease, AND TIME! I recently cleaned my Kay which I bought about 2 months ago. Took 3 hours to do!! Then again, I don't think it had seen a cloth since it rolled out of the factory in '49... looks 10x better though.

The water didn't do too much It got rid of some build up and left other parts looking like they had a satin finish. Someone here suggested murphy's magic soap, any experience? I'll look into that other one too. Thanks!
