possible to add wood to thin neck?

As I've been playing my Czech ease a bit more lately because of being on and off the road, I've noticed the neck is abit thinner in Half Position of the bass and I find it is making my hand cramp up a bit because I'm used to a larger neck, there have been no modifications done on the bass I recieved it a month or two ago from Gage and the neck I'm guessing is the standard neck but shaved down a touch in half position, is it possible to add mass to the neck or am I S+++ out of luck, any help would be much appreciated

I'd say take it to a shop and see what they can do. I'm sure there's a way to add some wood with glue and such to get the thickness you want. (especially if you think someone already took some off.) Perhaps someone else around here has expierence in doing this...

I personally like the thinner necks.

It is possible to put a shim on the neck, I just had this done, with very good results. There was also a previous thread on this that had some good points...
Making a neck thicker?

I'm going to have a shim installed as well as a new ebony fingerboard on my Kay when funds allow for this. The original neck was in pretty bad shape, and was replaced by Arnold S. with what appears to be an Englehart neck. Arnold did a very nice job, as we all know what a great luthier he is, and I don't mean to diminish this at all. While this set up has served me well since getting it in high school, I now feel more comfortable with a thicker neck. C'mon funds, where are ya?

I have thought about having this done to my Kay as well.
I wonder if the change in angle between the nut and pegs has any effect upon the pressure/weight needed to stop a string in the lower positions. I know that some players prefer to have the A, rather than the heavier E, strung on the peg closest to the nut for this reason.
