Pressure Sensitive Sandpaper

What kind of PSA Sandpaper do you folks use and where do you purchase it?

Klingspor makes all kinds of nice sand paper, you can get PSA paper by the sheet or roll. If only they sold rolls 36" wide, that with a big ol' glass plate would make leveling a rib assembly a dream.

You can use a 36" thickness sander belt sliced into pieces. Not PSA but heavy cloth backing that contact cements very well! Comes in many grits too.

Klingspor. No reason to go elsewere. It used to be called "The Sanding Catalog". Would you believe that even though the stuff is manufactured here in Germany I can't get the items I need here. I have to smuggle packs of sheets in from the USA in my luggage. Really stupid.

+1 about klingspor. I just put in an order to woodcraft for some other things and decided to get some sandpaper, including some psa disks, while I was at it. Hopefully it'll be good stuff, I don't use sandpaper much, but when I do I like it to be quality.

Hey Keiran, one of my coworkers got a 3' by 4' piece of psa for doing cello ribs through Klinspor. We do custom orders from them pretty frequently and they can pretty much make anything for a reasonable price.

I use spray adhesive, comes in aerosol cans and regular sheet sandpaper. Currently using Norton Adalox which I've had for many years. You can make a platen and spray mount the sand paper. I made a flattening tool using plywood with handles and spray mounted sand paper, works great and is very comfortable to use. I'm wondering what is easier/better, moving a rib assembly over the sand paper platen or moving a sanding jig over a rib assembly? The spray adhesive is really handy for making sand paper cauls or for making patterns and jigs/templates

stick it to your pants a couple of times first, if you have any intentions of applying it to a top.

Cheater!!!!

I love the 3M stuff but every time I go to get more, I never remember where I bought it and have a hellova time finding a source. This thread will be quite useful moving forward..
