purfling at the break

Any clues as to how I run the purfling through the break?

Is it normally put in with a cut or splice at the break, or is there another trick?

Does cursing work?

Mine doesn't have a real "break", but a gradual curve--hope someone else can answer that. It is a good question. Mine, obviously, I just purfled right through the bend.

Good luck.

I would suggest kerfing the back side of the purfling with a knife about 2/3 the depth of the purfling channnel and bend it so the gap closes this should help keep the top edge from stress failure, try a couple dry fits first and when you have it figured out, then glue it in. if you get it just right the back side of the joint will be tight and the top continious

Thanks for that. In the end I cut right through, but the join is virtually invisible anyway. And the purfling was much easier to fit in two pieces!

Here's the result:
