Rattlin' G

Ok so my UB Standard Hybrid is great and all, but something about it has been buggin the hell out of me, whenever i hit a G, any G, my endpin rattles like crazy and disrupts the sound, i have tried tightening it, lowering it, raising it, i just have no idea what to do to "shake" that rattle. This has been going on for while now and it's starting to really bug me. Could You Help?

By what means did you determine that it was, indeed, the endpin that is rattling, and not something else? (Not doubting, just wondering...)

End pins can rattle when the length that is inside the bass is too long.

I know this because I am a vertically challenged bassist that only uses about two inches of the end pin length to get the proper playing height for myself.

I've had the rattling problem on several of my basses over the years. I've had the pins cut down so the length left inside the instrument's cavity is now shorter therefore less sympathetic vibration/ oscillation of the end pin. No more rattle.
