Removing NEW hide glue

I made a little mistake on a crack repair... it closed ok, but its a big crack and I didn’t notice that the crack was aligned at the bottom but towards the middle it wasn’t... now I know hot water may be the answer, but I just want to make sure I am on the right path here… what would you do in my case?

Brush some really hot water on there - not quite boiling but not far from it - and it will move apart for you.

You can probably just redo the part that is not aligned. If a crack is big I usually don't try to glue the whole thing at once.

Yes its more in the middle so I will use very hot water and a brush to remove the glue in the middle and redo it

Correct, the other option was using steam, not a great idea right?

It depends on whether or not you're worried about the finish!

Don't really need a machine gun where a bb gun will do.

I use an old credit card when scraping a surface I don't want to damage. It must be resharpened often, of course.
