Ringing notes

I have a problem with a new bass I bought. When I have amplified it with the realist or full circle pickup, in certain rooms, the b flats all over the bass ring out with an uncontrolled sustain, much louder than other notes. This has happened with two pickups, so I beleive it is an issue withe bass. Any ideas what this is?

Aarongermain,

It could be that Bb is the peak frequency node of that portion of the room(s) you're in. I've had similar situations. To reduce the potential for feedback, when space allows, I increase the distance between the amp and the bass.

Others may have more enlightened opinions.

Good luck!
