short ass bridge

Every time I see a bassist I love, their bridge is a good 1 or 1 and a 1/2 inches higher than mine. My bass started out with a bridge that size, but the action rendered it virtually unplayable.

I guess my fingerboard is at the wrong angle. Is this repairable, it's a cheap bass, would it be woth repairing?

Does it affect the sound or playability? It could be an inexpensive alteration with uncertain benefits.

If not, accept it as it is. If other players accuse you of Bridge Size Envy just shrug it off.
