Question sound post position

my question is where should the sound post be positioned ?
the reason i ask is on my englehart es1 the "d"and "g" are considerably louder. (normal or not?) when I look through the f hole the sound post is under that side of the bridge

Welcome to Talkbass.

Please read the Newbie links at the top of this forum.

The soundpost sits behind the G foot of the bass bridge. Not directly under it, but slightly south of it (north being towards the fingerboard, south being towards the tailpiece). If you are having problems with the bass not being even from the E to G strings, taking a trip to a bass repair/setup specialist may help things out.
