Summer bass repair workshop?

Does anybody know of a summer workshop...probably about a week long...that would cover the basics of setting up a bass and maing basic repairs?

I'd love to learn how to cut a bridge and nut, plane a fingerboard and close up open seams...those basic needs that we all run across.

I'm not thinking of going into business, but rather making an informed step into a hobby. I'm reading Traeger's bass repair book, but would like a chance for guided hands-on experience.

Suggestions?

There will be a workshop in July at the Guild of American Luthiers convention in Tacoma on vintage American ply bass restoration as well as another on bass building along with a whole week of other builder's "nerdfest" activities.

I sent you a PM on ideas for private workshops on bass setup and repair instruction.

Are you headed out there, J? I'm thinking about going to the builder's workshop. I lived in Tacoma for about 6 years, and might be able to round up some free digs for a week.

Mark:

I'm scheduled to be giving a workshop on vintage American plywood bass restorations and a separate workshop on handrubbing a sunburst finish- pretty similar to my video over at finewoodworking.com. All of the details are still being worked out right now. From what I know, there is also a heavy hitter in the carved bass building world on the docket to give another workshop, as well as a ton of other great material. I'll have to hold off on discussing much until they get the official information and schedule out next month.

'My apologies for anyone who was hoping to catch my workshop at the last convention that was cancelled on short notice. I had just bought a new house, only to find there were a bunch of tweaker drug dealers living out of it prior and I couldn't leave my pregnant wife standing out in the driveway with a loaded shotgun to chase away all of the sketchy "clientelle" that the former owners left hanging dry and still owing a lot of money to....

Thanks for the info on your involvement on a workshop at the GAL convention James. That seals the deal on me booking time to take it in. I will be there with notebook in hand.
