tail piece

just got home with my new to me hybrid, and i'm trying to make some adjustments.the previous owner had a witner composite tailpiece. i'm just curious if anyone has any points of view on the tailpiece. she sounds as well as she can with old strings, and has seems to have more of a higher end register, and i guess i'm just use to the lower thud of all plywood. will a solid-wood tail bring the lower end around???
