Tailpiece Style I play a 20's/30's carved German flatback. The tailpiece is ebony with 2 holes on the top where the tailgut loops through, similar to this one: http://www.contrabass.co.uk/tailpiec...e_4_string.htm I was wondering if there is any technical advantage of the "violin style" tailpiece over mine or is it just a style difference? Is my style of tailpiece uncommon? Is it from a certain style of maker or considered lower quality? Just curious. Thanks in advance for any information. |
I also have this kind of tailpiece and I have seen them rather often on other basses in Germany. I'm not sure if the use of one or the other is significantly higher, but they are not uncommon here. |
