what is more unusual is the description:

The bass will need repairs to be in good physical condition and playing condition.

I took this on trade.

The sound post is missing. The top is in bad condition. There are 3 splits on the wood that will need to be repaired or replaced.

There is a crack about half way down on both sides of the neck.

The back and sides are in good conditon. There are a few loose spots that will need to be glued. The bass has lost a fair amount of lacquer. The flash makes it look a little shinier then it is in person. You can see the tiger striping in the wood. Tuners work ok. The tuners and plate are brass. There is some decorative etching around the plates.

I dunno. That sounds like a pretty normal description!

"The bass will need repairs ... to be in good physical and playing condition"

Wowzers!! Some one really wanted normal maple to be flame maple.
I actually have a wire tailpiece that is not so dissimilar except that some actual planning and execution was used in the wire one, I'm not so sure about those springs.
