Upright bass pickups....

I am looking for something pretty specific. First let me catch you all up to date on the suitcase bass I built. I have done some adjustment work on my own and the thing is playing pretty nicely. The bass is still not very loud acoustically, so I have decided to install some sort of permanent soundboard pickups that could be attached under the soundboard beneath the bridge. Yep, I mean inside the bass. The design of this bass allows easy access to the inside. I would also like to install some sort of permanent preamp (with volume and tone adjustments preferably) into the side of the instrument. In case you don't remember what it looks like:

I also would like to spend as little money as possible (in other words, I would like to get the best bang for the buck).

Any suggestions?

Mike

+1. I'd just buy a KK bassmax and use it in the bridge as normal. And use a standard lead straight into your amp high impedance input. THAT's bang for buck.

If you want to start building things into the bass you're up for more buck and not much more bang.

How much does your suitcase weigh?
