| Yup, I tried it for a while. Not sure if it made any difference to the tone or volume, but boy did my bass go flat.
This stuff is supposed not to stretch, but I kept it on there at least three months and my bass just kept going out of tune. I was a bit paranoid about my knot, but that was secure and not budging (checking the ends regularly to make sure no slippage). I replaced it with braided steel cable - no retuning from day one.
The cord is strong enough, but against the theory that is is supposed not to have any stretch, I found it did.

It would be interesting to see what others have found. Presumably if they are still selling it then it must be working ok??
Oh, and you can buy it a lot cheaper elsewhere (it is called dyneema, or spectra, and is used for the rigging in yachts). |
