when a set become uneven

Hi all,
Yesterday i tried to increase bridge height.
My bass is actually strung with Spiro Stark 5-8mm.
The set sounds even.

Just for a try i went to 7-10.
Suddenly i had a kicking G, a thunderous D but a weak A & E
Should i think this is normal due to overpressure? I thought that chocking would affect the general bass sound....

thank you

is it possible that your bridge is uneven cuz you were slightly off after making the adjustments?

In my experience, every bass has a sweet spot beyond which higher action doesn't give you any more volume, just tension. Maybe one of the luthiers could chime in here and confirm or deny.

well....in order to have some pararrell motion i put sign on adjutster wheels. both legs were equal.

My thougths are: Maybe higher tension might boost some flaw in soundpost set up, somehow a magnifier len.

higher tension might change top response blocking areas where bass freq spring out ?

sorry.
Thank you

The higher tension might be tightening the top and keeping it from vibrating more widely like it needs to for the lower notes. It could be a setup issue and it could be your bass - can't tell from here!

What does it sound like at 6 - 9 mm?
