Aren't these wire tailpieces just going to be amplification nightmares?

- or are these for acoustic-only (or mic only) applications?

Also, I was under the impression that a heavy ebony tailpiece serves to "darken" the tone of some basses, which is preferable for arco tone and response. Does the wire tailpiece then brighten the tone?

Subjective answers from one who is relatively uniformed:

1) Hasn't been. That's what the damper takes care of. Keeps the wires from humming.

2) Using mine with a pickup. Sounds groovy.

3) Larger discussion issue, requiring luthier input. In my case, the wire tailpiece does clarify and brighten the tone a bit. Also evens out response, on my bass.
