You want your carved bass to crack?

I found an interesting statement in this Ebay add:

http://cgi.ebay.com/EMANUEL-WILFER-1...QQcmdZViewItem

It reads:

"Solid wood instruments will usually split every several years which is good for them to do so, this releases tension in the wood and gives it a better sound after repair. "

So I guess this means I should turn off my himidifer and do all I can to expose my bass to temperature/humidity extremes so it will crack, be repaired, and sound even better.

I guess that's what they mean when they say that the bass "opens up".

LOL

I read that AD and almost posted it for a guy here looking for a Wilfer until I saw the Bass bar Crack in to photo. That is at least 3k to fix with a New bar. so the 7k becomes 10k+.

Yes, I want my 200 year old Gilkes 'without' a single crack in the Top to start splitting so it can be better... NOT !!!!!!!

Well, she says it was repaired but I wonder what that means. I sent the seller a polite, cordial, friendly message concerning the absurd statement. Let's see what comes back.
